Jon started playing golf at age 12, and was largely self taught. He realized "learning from trial and error is a frustrating method", a method Jon hopes to have his students avoid. But "in digging my knowledge from the dirt" Jon developed a fuller understanding of the game.

At age 20, Jon moved to Florida from Pittsburgh, PA to be where the game's greatest players and teachers congregate. Over the last 15 years he has spent time with some of golf's legends and Golf Digest's Top 100 teachers studying their methodologies and picking their brains. Such greats include Bob Toski, Mike Adams, Todd Anderson and Martin Hall.
